The Tom Kelly Field, sporting his retired number 10, at Edgerton was built in conjunction with the Twins Community Fund, the Maplewood Athletic Association, and the City of Maplewood. Covered dugouts and renovations to the infield, outfield, and pitcher’s mound now  will accomodate three different age groups. Guy Cardinal took the mound for the Maplewood Muckdogs, 6th-7th-grade, during the Tom Kelly Field dedication game Aug. 8. Former Minnesota Twins manager and Maplewood resident Tom Kelly spoke at the dedication of the field named in his honor. Maplewood Mayor Will Rossbach, Maplewood Athletic Association President Erv Carlson, and Twins President Dave St. Peter also spoke Aug. 8. Kelly, accompanied by his wife Sharon and the manager of two World Championships, told the kids to have fun and play the game the best you can.
