Returning to wild roots


Photos by Melanie Kleiss, executive director of Lower Phalen Creek Project On Saturday, April 8, a group of 31 people gathered at the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary to learn about local wildlife from the Minnesota Wildlife Tracking Project. Left, stations were set up for participants to learn about tracking prints left behind from deer, rabbits, mice, woodchucks, and birds. Right, participants also played games to learn about animal behavior, including practicing some bird calls.

Ramsey County-Maplewood Review people - published April 12, 2017


Kevin Peterson, Washington County engineer, was honored at the March 14 County Board meeting for receiving the 2017 American Society of Civil Engineers Young Engineer of the Year Award. With him are commissioners Gary Kriesel, District 3, Karla Bigham, District 4, and Fran Miron, District 1, Peterson, Don Theisen, public works director, commissioners Lisa Weik, District 5,and Stan Karwoski, District 2. Also with him are Wayne Sandberg, county engineer and deputy public works director, Frank Ticknor, design engineer, and Cory Slagle, assistant county engineer.

Kevin Peterson, an engineer in the Washington County Public Works Department, has been granted the 2017 American Society of Civil Engineers Young Engineer of the Year Award.
